Eliza & Sandy
Eliza, who now lives across the country in DC, grew up in Mill Valley at the foot of Mt. Tamalpais. As a kid she would play in Old Mill Park under the shadow of the towering Redwoods. Come time for her wedding last summer, she and Sandy decided to return to Marin County to hold their intimate ceremony in this very park. (It’s still a busy spot - and the first time that we’ve had to wait out a children’s Shakespeare troupe in order to get the ceremony set up. It was pretty cute).
For the reception, the wedding party and guests, led by a marching brass band, ambled their way through the downtown streets to the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club, where Eliza’s mother (an established landscape designer in the area), had designed and installed many of the surrounding gardens. It was hard not to get a little choked up at this wedding, a brief return to Neverland for Eliza.
The two chose warm, vibrant tones for the day in August. Lush dahlias, garden roses and lisianthus contrasted with sharper textural elements of grevillea and seeded eucalyptus. Under the deep green redwoods, these bold tones all but glowed.
